The Bloodhound Group is excited to announce its partnership with Athlumin, creator of an AI-driven online athletic development platform, to grow and scale its business.
Athlumin is set to transform how aspiring amateur athletes aged 7 and up access personalized skill evaluations with vital industry professionals. Its cost-effective platform empowers families to find the right instructors, trainers, scouts, coaches, managers and agents, helping young talents unlock their full potential.
Athlumin’s concept addresses a critical challenge: the escalating costs of youth sports. Spiraling expenses often limit access to essential evaluations and development resources for millions of young athletes. Many families simply cannot afford private lessons, specialized training or the significant travel team expenses necessary for skill development and exposure to scouts and coaches.
According to the Aspen Institute’s Sports & Society Program, parents of young amateur athletes spend an average of $693 annually on training and development, with some families exceeding $12,000 per year. The Institute estimates annual parental spend on children’s sports activities surpasses $40 billion, marking a 46% increase over the past five years.
Even those who can afford to invest often struggle to allocate funds effectively. Parents and players face the daunting task of sifting through hundreds of specialized coaches, trainers and development options, often without a clear starting point.
Athlumin was created to provide a clear, accessible and systematic pathway for young athletes on their developmental journey. “I’ve seen firsthand the financial and logistical hurdles families face in developing young athletes,” says William A. “Bill” Brown, Founder and CEO of Athlumin. “Our mission is to democratize access to high-quality athletic development through objective, AI-powered evaluations and vital connections. The Athlumin platform allows families to receive precise and accurate skill evaluations at a reasonable cost. We believe there’s a massive and expanding market for this type of affordable, connective service.”
Brown also highlights the increasing interest in athlete branding and endorsements resulting from NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) regulations. This trend is expected to drive double-digit growth in athlete development investments, potentially exceeding $60 billion by 2030.
Brown and Athlumin’s investors selected The Bloodhound Group to maximize their business potential after attending a presentation by BHG Founder and CEO Jim Cobb on “Keys to Successful New Product Introduction.”
“Choosing The Bloodhound Group as our strategic partner was a clear decision,” Brown says. “Jim Cobb and his team have a deep understanding of market entry and growth. Their expertise and experience are precisely what we need to scale Athlumin and truly make a difference in the lives of aspiring young athletes. We are confident our partnership will propel Athlumin to become the leading platform for youth athletic development.”
BHG is actively collaborating with Athlumin’s advertising agency, Hummingbird Creative, to refine the company’s business model and optimize its go-to-market strategy.
“The Athlumin service will not only foster crucial connections for players and parents but will also enable coaches to identify talented young players who fit their college team needs earlier in their high school careers,” says Cobb. “We are eager to work with the Athlumin team to bring this transformative concept to market.”
