The Bloodhound Group Sponsors Alford Family Golf Scholarship Tournament for Second Year

The Bloodhound Group is proud to be a sponsor of the 2022 Alford Family Golf Scholarship Tournament in Durham, North Carolina. The event will be held August 26th at the Hillandale Golf Course.

The tournament was established two years ago by Brad Alford, Senior Director of Sports and Championships at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA). After completing a three-year program through the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA), Alford attained the designation Certified Master Athletic Administrator. He fulfilled one requirement of the certification by establishing a golf scholarship for NCHSAA student-athletes. The goal of the fund is to provide one-time financial assistance on an annual basis to one male and one female student who plan to play collegiate golf.

“This scholarship tournament is important to me because my immediate family has been involved in high school athletics since the 1970s,” says Alford. “My father, Steve, coached men’s basketball, women’s basketball and men’s golf at Southern Durham High School and today serves as the director of the men’s and women’s golf state championships. My sister, Lauren Allen, participated in cheerleading at Southern Durham and is now a varsity cheerleading coach at an NCHSAA member school. I played golf and soccer each year in high school as well as golf at Mount Olive College.”

The Bloodhound Group stepped up its support for the tournament this year by entering a team to play and providing social media promotional support along with coverage the day of the event. “Every dollar that goes toward someone’s education is a dollar well-invested,” says Jim Cobb, founder and chief brand strategist. “We are proud to contribute to this very worthy cause.”
